Review: MAC Lipstick in Rebel

Hi loves! 🙂

The other day I picked up a MAC lipstick that I've had my eye on for agess. It's called 'Rebel' and it's an absolutely stunning purple-y plum, gorgeous for this time of the year.

It's a Satin finish, which means that it's still creamy, matte and full of colour but a lot less drying on the lips than the matte finishes. As you all know I the satin and amplified finishes from MAC are my absolute favourites because they're so packed with colour, and you can always find literally any colour that you could ever want, they last forever too which is a bonus! Check out the swatch below 🙂

What do you think? What's your favourite MAC lipstick?

Autumn Make-up Look

Hello loves! 🙂

Today, I decided to try out a different look using some lovely autumn colours so I dug out my Sleek iDivine Monaco palette and got stuck in!

It's got a lovely mix of colours, some brights, some pastels and some neutrals, perfect! I absolutely adore the Sleek palettes, I've got a few of them, and I love them because there's a massive range of colours, they're long lasting, reasonably priced and super pigmented.

I decided to go for the three colours above, I'm not sure of the names though!

So, I started with the lightest colour, a matte beige colour, and applied it all over the lid and right up to the brow bone.

Then, I applied the middle colour, a super pigmented bronze-y red over the lid. (It looks a lot more orange in the picture than it really is).

Finally, I used the matte plum (which is gorgeoussss) in the crease and blended it up and out for a smokey look.

Finish with a flick of liquid liner, some mascara and a plum lipstick (I'm using No Competition by Benefit) and your good to go! 🙂

Tammy xoxo

Make-Up Basics: Choosing & Applying Mascara

Hello loves! 🙂

Hope your all well! Here is he next instalment in my Make-Up Basics series; How to choose and apply mascara. To me, it’s the Holy Grail of make-up and that ‘must-have’ item in your purse. And it’s also typical, that it’s so difficult to find the right one! I should know, I’ve tried most of them (in the name of research, of course)…

20131011-203725.jpg

So here are my top tips for applying and choosing the right mascara!

Always curl your lashes before applying mascara, doing it after will make your lashes brittle and prone to breakage.
Black mascara looks good on everyone, but for redheads and blondes, brown is great for a natural, daytime look!
NEVER pump your wand in and out of the tube, air will get in and cause bacteria to grow, and your mascara will dry out quicker too!
Replace your mascara every 3 months and never ever share, unless you really want to end up with some nasty eye infections!
When applying, start at the base of the lashes and roll the brush as you work towards the tips for full coverage!
Let mascara dry between coats for thicker, voluminous lashes without the clump!
Never rub or pull at your lashes when removing mascara, this can irritate the delicate skin around your eyes and can also make lashes fall out. Instead, soak a cotton pad in eye make up remover and hold onto the eyes for a few seconds to dissolve make up.

Hope this helped you guys!

Tammy xoxo

New Series: Make-Up Basics!

Hello lovelies! 🙂

I’ve decided to start a new series, covering all the basics of make up. Whether your just starting out playing with make up, or a make up connoisseur, I find that there is always something new to be learned or some new tricks to try out!

To start with, I’m going to talk about Foundations and how to choose the right shade for your skintone. Here are my top tips on choosing the right colour;

Use foundation to even and perfect your skintone, not give you a new one
I know that sometimes it is tempting to go a shade or two darker than your natural skin colour to make yourself look more tanned but please, unless you love your face to be a totally different colour to the rest of your body, resist the urge! It never looks natural, always choose a foundation to match your natural skintone, it’s so much easier to bronze it up than trying to lighten a foundation that’s way too dark for you.

Always swatch before you buy
And I don’t mean on your wrist or the back of your hand! Whether your going to your local drugstore to pick up a purse-friendly foundation or heading to a high-end make up counter, go make up free and test the colours ON YOUR FACE! In natural light, take your chosen shade and swipe from your cheek down to your jawline, beside this colour, do the same with a shade lighter and a shade darker. The one that disappears completely is the one you want. If you want to be extra sure your picking the right one, test it on your forehead too as some people tend to be slightly darker here!

Choose a yellow base
Sounds odd I know! But pale or dark skinned, everyone has yellow undertones to their skin. Using a colour laced with pink or peach undertones can make even the most ghostly pale ladies and gents look washed out and chalky! A yellow based foundation will blend easily into your skin and keep you looking bright and radiant 🙂

Change with the Seasons
To keep you looking fresh and healthy all year round, make sure you have two foundations to hand; one for summer when your tanned, and one for winter when your paler. For the rest of the year, you can mix the two colours together or use separate for certain areas where your skin might be lighter or darker!

20131008-183726.jpg

And here’s how you can get the right consistency for your skin type!

Dry/Dull/Tired Skin
Your aim here will be a fresh, dewy complexion and to get this, you will want to choose a hydrating foundation. These have a moisturising formula and you can choose to have a sheer coverage, that you would find in a tinted moisturiser, or medium-full coverage from a liquid or mousse formula. Avoid matte foundations and cakey powders as these will make your skin look even drier.

Oily Skin
If you have oily skin, obviously you will want to choose a foundation that will keep shine at bay, so look for foundations that state directly on the packaging that they are mattifying or oil free. You can also add a mattifying powder on top to reduce shine.

I hope this helped some of you!

Love & Lipstick,
Tammy xoxo

Brand Wishlist – Illamasqua

Hello my loves 🙂

Last time I did a brand Wishlist, I was all about theBalm, but now I think it’s time to head over to the dark side and pick a few of my most wanted goodies from one of my favourite brands, Illamasqua.

Firstly, I’ve had my eye on this for aaagggeeesssss! I’ve heard so many great reviews about it and it looks incredible but I just haven’t got round to buying it yet, it’s the Hydraveil (£27). I need it!

20131005-234255.jpg

Next up is the Complement Palette, filled with 4 gorgeous colours in brown and plum tones, this to me is the ideal palette for Autumn, just stunning!

20131005-235221.jpg

Then we have the Liquid Metal in Phenomena, an AMAZING, super pigmented, metallic silver cream that can be used on eyes, lips or cheeks!

Next, it’s onto my favourite products ever, the lipsticks! I absolutely love this shade, ESP, a stunning vivid violet with a matte finish. Deliciously dark and daring!

We can’t forget a nail polish, and the colour I’m lusting after most is Obssess, the most gorgeously, girly, pink!

20131006-000010.jpg

Last but definitely not least, is the new Velvet blusher in Peaked, a lovely dusky rose colour, perfect for this time of year!

20131006-000205.jpg

I can’t take lusting after these products much longer, I might just have to shimmy on over to Illamasqua.com and make a couple of purchases, all in the name of the blog of course…

Which Illamasqua products are you sticking on your Wishlist?

Mini Haul!

Hello lovelies! 🙂

So, it’s nearing the end of the month as pay day still seems SO far away and I was having some major beauty cravings so I just decided to be naughty and I spent my very last few dolla on some beauty goodies!
Here’s what I got..

20130926-161651.jpg
First up there’s some lashes from Collection. I do love a good pair of falsies so I picked the Luscious Lashes in Glam Volume (£2.99, Superdrug).

20130926-161854.jpg
I also picked up a black kohl liner from MUA which was only something like £1.50, I hate spending ridiculous money on stuff like that because the cheap ones are usually just as good. I really like this one because it’s lovely and creamy, and it comes with a handy little sharpener on the lid!

20130926-162214.jpg
I also picked up a little pair of press on nails from Primark, I really like these because they’re super handy just to wear for a couple of days, especially if you have an event or night out!

20130926-162416.jpg
Now, this is my favourite purchase of the day! I’m super excited to get playing with it, it’s one of the three new Shadow & Blush Palettes from Barry M!
I got the Smokin’ Hot version but you can also get the Natural Glow version, which reminds me of the Naked palette a bit, all neutral colours with a lovely light pink blush, and the Glamour Puss palette which has a STUNNING hot pink blush and is definitely next on my Wishlist!

20130926-162756.jpg

20130926-162825.jpg
I’m really excited to play with this and get creating some gorgeous smokey eye looks, greys and blacks are some of my favourite colours to bring some drama into a look and they never, ever go out of style. The shadows and blush have a lovely, velvety texture to them and I was really pleasantly surprised at the pigmentation, they have some amazing colour to them! Check them out below 🙂 (unfortunately it doesn’t state the names of the colours on the case, which is disappointing as I like to know the shade if I ever need to replace it but that is my only complaint so far!)
Hope you like..

Let me know what you think, have you tried any of these palettes yet?

As I’ve been nosy-ing around their website, I’ve decided that I love everything about them. I love that their the embodiment of quirky, kitsch beauty products, I love the names of their products (the bodybuilder mascara, anyone?!) and I really, really love the fact that their little mascot is a lipstick and tiara-wearing pug called Wheezie. That in itself makes me so excited to get some Balm in my life!

Here’s my most wanted products!

The Nude’Tude Eyeshadow Palette

CabanaBoy Blush

Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter

The BodyBuilder Mascara

Time Balm Primer

En Root Leave In Conditioner Spray

Almond Microdermabrasion Facial Scrub
